Red Chariot lives!

This beauty was just finished by Ron S. , an active member of Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale. Ron has been building some very cool vintage box art models. I just love these oldies and seeing the box art come to life is so cool! Ron previously built the option drag tub also.

I take full blame....

Tommy Logan blames me for this. I accept the blame and am proud to have made him go this route hah! Well I actually had nothing to do with it. This is a beautiful example of how you can see a piece of box art and turn into a full blown 360 viewable piece of art! Tommy you make me proud! You know how many of us modelers just LOVE vintage box art! It's really cool to see them built!

the O.G. '29 RPU/CC Pickup by Revell

I am working on this right now, everything else is aside until I feel like messing with them again. (what else is new?)(as if I need another project)
This is the OriGinal kit Revell did with the opening doors and posable steering etc...They brought it back out not that long ago as a "Rat Rod" kit. BLEH! Looks like some Hot Rods on the cover to me! Anyways, I am going to build it just like the box cover shows it...why not right? It's molded in red, so it's gonna be easy to match :-p I will just polish the plastic to a high shine.

Mongram's original Little T

After a long search and a more detailed longer search I finally came up with one! This came over seas from a good guy I met on Coffin Corner. It's almost all there and the parts missing are going to be a cinch to find I think! I will post finished photo when it's done...love these old Monogram kits!

If you didn't guess by now....

I love the hell out of vintage box art AND especially models that are built to look like the art work! Ron S. a member of TRaK just finished this beauty! Until now, I had never in my life seen one built this way and it's SO nice!

This is the original box end. Below shown is 16B/A built by another friend of mine Dave Charlton who has built a BUNCH of vintage box art models.

Monogram's Little T

This line of kits Monogram put out are probably my favorite of their offerings! I might just be building this one next!

'56 Vicky Gas!

Sometime this year....yes it will happen! It took awhile to get nice scans of the box on this one. These old kits are getting tough to come by and nobody wants to touch them afraid of hurting the value....send them to me! I will torture that old plastic and put some glue on it! Thanks to Larry Spitzer for the scans!

Blue Beetle CLONE back out!

I better stop getting so far ahead of myself! I need to get clear on this and see if I can level that horrible paint finish out! This is being built with a Monogram later issue Early Iron kit and some of the original parts I scavenged. The scuba stuff was a gift from a friend on TRaK and was made by Replicas and Miniatures. This shouldn't take too long, so check back for finished pics!

FINALLY! '49 GAS MAN

Thanks to Ron Roberts, I have finally received NICE scans of the box art I needed! I plan to build a replica of the artwork "GAS MAN". I really enjoy bringing the artwork to life as most kids never built them this way or they tried and the work was not very nice PLUS age and abuse of the builds over the years. So it is great pleasure to make them FRESH and best I can without spending countless hours. I didn't realize until today when I got the scans, that there was two kits with the GAS MAN on the side panel. Both images are from two issues of the kit. The 49'ER was kit number 2249-170 (the 170 was actual price) and the other is from the Tijuana Border Patrol kit.

The Gas Master

I don't know if I will actually build this box art, but the art is inspiration for sure!

Got 5-Window?

Yes , this is another one I will build and it's inspired by the box art. Mine probably won't match the color exactly, but it's getting the same treatments. For shit sakes I wish model kits were still sold this way...box art and lot's of cool OLD parts!

IMC Touch Tone Terror

What a neat old model kit! Ok....truthfully there was a lot of fitting and such to get things together, but it was satisfying! NOTE: turn signals are painted now.

another 96 hours '32 Ford Vicky

I am bringing this one to life in 1/25 of course. There are bunches of old box art models in my on-going to do list. This is to be done in 96 hours or less. We have these builds on Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale (my forum) , in order to take a break from the more grooling builds. Quick and fun, that's the key! For those collectors information....This is being built from a fresh kit. Build them while you are alive, because when you are gone....what are they worth?
EDIT: and here it is all done! This was FUN to build!

Vintage kit to reissue

Pssst..reissue this kit , it's gonna sell trust that! Red version I had and sold ,it's an original build. Blue one is an in progress that I will finish eventually. EDIT: I was not thinking clearly.....the car was ruined to make a dirt track racer. BIG MISTAKE! Kinda like the ruined '66 Buick Skylark!

Timeless Inspiration

If I could only paint like this. David Garcia is one of the best known builders of Lowriders and Customs on the West Coast. I used to buy LRB back in the day and see his cars in there a lot. Now with today's great internet, I run into him on LIL and TRaK as a member. He has built some of the most extreme replicas I have ever seen in 1/25 scale. All work is by masking and air brushing.

My day was made

First of all the AMT '40 Ford Coupe has to be one of my favorite vintage issued kits. I like the box art a bunch and really I have never seen a 100% built box art model until today. Ron S. , a TRaK member built the car exactly like the old box art. This is not the easiest task ok....the kit was issued in 1960 I think. Decals would not be any good, so he had to have either made new ones himself or bought some after markets which are hard to find. No matter what, it's nice to see one built like this. (missing skirts, but who cares)
Another cool version of the car was on the side of the box. As shown is the side box art built by Dave Charlton. This stuff is really neat! Anyone can build a vintage kit..but I really dig seeing them done like this. Old school to the core!
