Bad-Ass

It's been awhile since I blogged and trust me this isn't the first thing to impress me in awhile either. I use my blog as my homepage, so I want to look at this everyday for awhile. Nice work CARPS!

Norm Veber , owner of Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland built this vintage minty kit! This is just another reason why Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale forum is the BEST! I love seeing these types of models, hot rods, vintage builds, vintage box art models, drag cars, kustoms and anything that REALLY rocks! No tuners or NASCAR crap!

Before I quit, check this '48 Ford by a fellow Nebraska Jason Scheffler! TRaK4life!

Mongram's original Little T

After a long search and a more detailed longer search I finally came up with one! This came over seas from a good guy I met on Coffin Corner. It's almost all there and the parts missing are going to be a cinch to find I think! I will post finished photo when it's done...love these old Monogram kits!

'64 Galaxie

Another mild ride from my bench! I have little to do before this is finished. This is a curbside kit with no engine. The whitewalls are original Firestones from the old kits in the 1960's and the rims...can't tell ya where they came from but they are sort of like Radir mags but have reversed spoke features. I will be adding spinners to the mags.

'56 Vicky Gas!

Sometime this year....yes it will happen! It took awhile to get nice scans of the box on this one. These old kits are getting tough to come by and nobody wants to touch them afraid of hurting the value....send them to me! I will torture that old plastic and put some glue on it! Thanks to Larry Spitzer for the scans!

Got 5-Window?

Yes , this is another one I will build and it's inspired by the box art. Mine probably won't match the color exactly, but it's getting the same treatments. For shit sakes I wish model kits were still sold this way...box art and lot's of cool OLD parts!

another 96 hours '32 Ford Vicky

I am bringing this one to life in 1/25 of course. There are bunches of old box art models in my on-going to do list. This is to be done in 96 hours or less. We have these builds on Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale (my forum) , in order to take a break from the more grooling builds. Quick and fun, that's the key! For those collectors information....This is being built from a fresh kit. Build them while you are alive, because when you are gone....what are they worth?
EDIT: and here it is all done! This was FUN to build!

'32 5W photoshopped

When I get spare time, I like to mess around with photos. I am not near as good as some guys, but it's fun....none the less! This is a 1/25 scale model in a PS'd Coker Tire ad. I built the model in less than two days, so don't expect a masterpiece haha!

Watson style '59 Skyliner

I am just about speechless. I can't say how cool I think this model is! Renaud "ZED" Legardez painted this car twice and the 2nd time around could not be better! He started with one of the Revell "multi peice" body kits. To begin with, these kits were crude but he made them look beautiful!

When blah becomes BLAH.....

And all the sudden out of nowhere comes something that is no longer BLAH! Renaud (ZED) Legardez , member of Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale and a Gold Member of the Drastic Plastics Model Car Club is working on this sweet Watson style '59 Skyliner. I about jumped out of my skin when I saw photos of this posted on TRaK! In fact, this paint job/project has me motivated to try the same on a '60 Buick I am building.
This is not the first time I have seen this done on a model car/ 1/25 scale....but the pattern and colors REALLY did it for me!

'40 Ford done right!

John Goschke built this beauty. The sharp lines in the scallops (which are painted on) , to the detailed engine compartment make this one stick out from the rest!

Vintage kit to reissue

Pssst..reissue this kit , it's gonna sell trust that! Red version I had and sold ,it's an original build. Blue one is an in progress that I will finish eventually. EDIT: I was not thinking clearly.....the car was ruined to make a dirt track racer. BIG MISTAKE! Kinda like the ruined '66 Buick Skylark!

Jimmy Flinstone Resin '49 Ford

This is on the bench right now. I am going to have to do some modifying to get the hood/grille to work.....this is what happens when you don't play the fitting test game enough. ahhhh well!

Watermelon Shoebox

I found this on themodelershaven built by user Customizer Ron. This thing is just right! Beautiful build, great paint choices and opening doors! I looked at all the builds he posted and I hope he joins TRaK if he isn't already a member...

'31 Ford way cool!

I would really like to see more pics of this car! Anyone?

Lyle Willits does it again

There are models that just make you drool and this is one of them! Lyle just finished this and posted on TRaK, could not be MORE appropriate of a build! Lyle says this was an 11 month build "Revell body, hinged hood, '34 Ford louvers grafted into hood sides, '36 Ford lights on scratchbuilt brackets, posable wheels, '40 Ford backing plates with Buick finned drums. Up top modified from a '36 Ford. Chrome split wishbones with homemade mounts. Quick change rear, Model A buggy spring, homemade spring mounts. Photoetched wire wheels from Reps & Mins with chrome "V8" caps from Monogram woodie kit. Caddy engine. Very carefully chopped windshield with acetate "glass". Homemade fuel block with gauge. Fuel lines are surgical sutures. (My wife is a nurse.) Resin, stock '32 Ford firewall from Reps & Mins. Hood padding is painted masking tape. Modified resin '40 Ford dash from Reps & Mins. '40 Ford wheel from Revell kit. Carpet is painted embossing powder, ball-head pin for shifter. Hinge-mount mirror made from silver wire, running lights from tudor sedan kit, photoetched side curtain snaps. ( I kinda went nuts on some of the details)
and '51 Chevy tailights." I know I won't get tired of looking at this any time soon Lyle, nice work!

My day was made

First of all the AMT '40 Ford Coupe has to be one of my favorite vintage issued kits. I like the box art a bunch and really I have never seen a 100% built box art model until today. Ron S. , a TRaK member built the car exactly like the old box art. This is not the easiest task ok....the kit was issued in 1960 I think. Decals would not be any good, so he had to have either made new ones himself or bought some after markets which are hard to find. No matter what, it's nice to see one built like this. (missing skirts, but who cares)
Another cool version of the car was on the side of the box. As shown is the side box art built by Dave Charlton. This stuff is really neat! Anyone can build a vintage kit..but I really dig seeing them done like this. Old school to the core!
