Bad-Ass

It's been awhile since I blogged and trust me this isn't the first thing to impress me in awhile either. I use my blog as my homepage, so I want to look at this everyday for awhile. Nice work CARPS!

Norm Veber , owner of Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland built this vintage minty kit! This is just another reason why Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale forum is the BEST! I love seeing these types of models, hot rods, vintage builds, vintage box art models, drag cars, kustoms and anything that REALLY rocks! No tuners or NASCAR crap!

Before I quit, check this '48 Ford by a fellow Nebraska Jason Scheffler! TRaK4life!

Gary Hatstat's classy AMT Merc

Yep, Gary did the chop and all of the kustom work on this classy AMT kit. It's really refreshing to see such a beautiful Merc built like this by hand. (apposed to the Revell pre-chopped kit). The style , color and execution is right on! You guys that aren't a member of TRaK in scale are consistantly MISSING OUT! www.thedpmcc.com/trak.html

Roger's Chrysler is delicious!

I love TRaK! You just will not see this kind of work anywhere else. Roger Nordhagen is another one of the guys I watch for, he can paint very well and his style is beauty! If you have not joined TRaK yet, you are really wasting your time.

ZED's at it again!

Renaud Legardez is one bad mo' fo' when it comes to building kustoms and he is really putting it to the staples on his paint jobs too! Drastic Plastics Gold Member and Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale guru....ZED is one I look forward to seeing what's next!

This is my homepage...

And so I look at this page so many times a day, it's nice to have something beautiful to look at! Russ Beckwith, member on TRaK built this sweet Ford!

Leroy Goulart inspired....

"farbeyonddriven" as he likes to be called...a member of my forum "Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale" built this '49 Ford. The work done to this is very typical of early kustomizers trying to outdo their last. You can't replace this era, we can only immitate and he did very well at that!

'60 Merc

Here it is finally done! I restored/rebuilt this car and did some very mild touches. I shaved the scripts and crests/badges, lowered it a bit, changed the wheelbase so it looked better, fixed windsheild frame because it was busted in the middle and the photo can speak for the rest.

My favorite Revell '57 Black Widow 150's so far

This kit took off as being one of the most popular purchases this year. So far the builds I have seen , people are enjoying them a lot. I might pick one up sometime.

Modelhaus' new Merc is tasty!

This was built by Tom Kren just recently and this has been teasing me! If you want the grille or the whole body, grille and hood...it can be done! www.modelhaus.com
The hubcaps are by Bob Dudek and if you are lucky enough to have a set, you will be like me and save them for something "worthy".

A nice surprise!

I was taken by surprise when I checked my email today. I found that my model had been chosen for the home page honors on a yahoo group I belong to. I got a laugh out of the photo and it was neat to see! Model Cars Unlimited is a nice family oriented group on yahoo. The first time I ever got the honor was about 5 years ago and it was on the same group. Since then I have done it on my own groups, because I want others to feel good like it made me feel. :-) Thanks Al!

'58 Olds!!!!

A couple of months back I was looking hard for some '58 Oldsmobile pics built as kustoms....I didn't know John D'Agostino built one until I found this pic on Rik Hoving's fotki site. FREAKIN' BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for building such beauties John! Thanks to Rik for having such a great fotki!
I have a convertible in resin....I am thinking a '58 chevy roof would look nice on it!

Caddy Kick!

Steve Boutte finished his and posted on TRaK ,to enter for "MOM". His interiors and overall completions just make me DROOL!

Jimmy Flintstone's '49 Ford

I finally got done with this today. I tell ya what..this is a really nice body, but it's kinda "fun" putting it together with the AMT kit. The thing is...it's not gonna sit this low without some work, so you have been warned. Painted Oriental Kandy Blue, Modelhaus shoes.

Another Desoto!

I have not seen another one built, let alone as a Mild Kustom since I did mine. Steve Hinson built the "Spanish Fly" and mine is the Kandy Green one. We have met in person, I hope next time we can get photos of them together. His is really slick, the base is so cool too!

Watson style '59 Skyliner

I am just about speechless. I can't say how cool I think this model is! Renaud "ZED" Legardez painted this car twice and the 2nd time around could not be better! He started with one of the Revell "multi peice" body kits. To begin with, these kits were crude but he made them look beautiful!

When blah becomes BLAH.....

And all the sudden out of nowhere comes something that is no longer BLAH! Renaud (ZED) Legardez , member of Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale and a Gold Member of the Drastic Plastics Model Car Club is working on this sweet Watson style '59 Skyliner. I about jumped out of my skin when I saw photos of this posted on TRaK! In fact, this paint job/project has me motivated to try the same on a '60 Buick I am building.
This is not the first time I have seen this done on a model car/ 1/25 scale....but the pattern and colors REALLY did it for me!

When Art and Plastic collide

Building box art models has been fun and I have a lot to build yet. For some reason I seem to draw more inspiration from artwork than I do from photos of real vehicles. Lyle Willits has also been bitten by the bug, at least awhile ago since these are new photos of an old build of his. He built his '41 Chevy pickup to look like a Jairus Watson piece. I really like the truck even if he had never shown the artwork with it. On TRaK I have a build going for modeling artwork in plastic. I have a feeling it's going to bring some really neat builds out!
