the O.G. '29 RPU/CC Pickup by Revell

I am working on this right now, everything else is aside until I feel like messing with them again. (what else is new?)(as if I need another project)
This is the OriGinal kit Revell did with the opening doors and posable steering etc...They brought it back out not that long ago as a "Rat Rod" kit. BLEH! Looks like some Hot Rods on the cover to me! Anyways, I am going to build it just like the box cover shows it...why not right? It's molded in red, so it's gonna be easy to match :-p I will just polish the plastic to a high shine.

"farbeyonddriven" as he likes to be called...a member of my forum "Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale" built this '49 Ford. The work done to this is very typical of early kustomizers trying to outdo their last. You can't replace this era, we can only immitate and he did very well at that!

Another Desoto!

I have not seen another one built, let alone as a Mild Kustom since I did mine. Steve Hinson built the "Spanish Fly" and mine is the Kandy Green one. We have met in person, I hope next time we can get photos of them together. His is really slick, the base is so cool too!

Watson style '59 Skyliner

I am just about speechless. I can't say how cool I think this model is! Renaud "ZED" Legardez painted this car twice and the 2nd time around could not be better! He started with one of the Revell "multi peice" body kits. To begin with, these kits were crude but he made them look beautiful!

When Art and Plastic collide

Building box art models has been fun and I have a lot to build yet. For some reason I seem to draw more inspiration from artwork than I do from photos of real vehicles. Lyle Willits has also been bitten by the bug, at least awhile ago since these are new photos of an old build of his. He built his '41 Chevy pickup to look like a Jairus Watson piece. I really like the truck even if he had never shown the artwork with it. On TRaK I have a build going for modeling artwork in plastic. I have a feeling it's going to bring some really neat builds out!

John Goschke built this beauty. The sharp lines in the scallops (which are painted on) , to the detailed engine compartment make this one stick out from the rest!

'51 Chevy 2nd Chance

As previously posted, here is the car back at home with me! This was built back in late 2003 and sold on eBay in 2005. When I got a chance to get it back and do "better" on it than back then, I took it! The plan is to sit low and it will depend on what the body looks like whether paint flies. The roof alone is bothering me with the mold lines still there, so that has to get done.

Lyle Willits does it again

There are models that just make you drool and this is one of them! Lyle just finished this and posted on TRaK, could not be MORE appropriate of a build! Lyle says this was an 11 month build "Revell body, hinged hood, '34 Ford louvers grafted into hood sides, '36 Ford lights on scratchbuilt brackets,posable wheels, '40 Ford backing plates with Buick finned drums. Up top modified from a '36 Ford. Chrome split wishbones with homemade mounts. Quick change rear, Model A buggy spring, homemade spring mounts. Photoetched wire wheels from Reps & Mins with chrome "V8" caps from Monogram woodie kit. Caddy engine. Very carefully chopped windshield with acetate "glass". Homemade fuel block with gauge. Fuel lines are surgical sutures. (My wife is a nurse.) Resin, stock '32 Ford firewall from Reps & Mins. Hood padding is painted masking tape. Modified resin '40 Ford dash from Reps & Mins. '40 Ford wheel from Revell kit. Carpet is painted embossing powder, ball-head pin for shifter. Hinge-mount mirror made from silver wire, running lights from tudor sedan kit, photoetched side curtain snaps. ( I kinda went nuts on some of the details)
